PREDICTION: Philip Rivers will throw for 300+ yards: FICTION

Result: FICTION (Technically, but not really, but sort of.)

Philip Rivers had a monster game on Sunday, but guess what? He threw for exactly 300 yards, so I’m technically correct. The best kind of correct.

In all seriousness, we should have seen this coming. The Jaguars have consistently made mediocre quarterbacks look amazing this season, so it’s not at all surprising that a hall of fame caliber quarterback would step in and eviscerate a defense that looks simplistic at times.

Early in the contest, it was evident Rivers had figured out the coverages and knew exactly where to go with the ball on virtually every play. Rivers managed to make a no-name like Dontrelle Inman look great, and Antonio Gates looked rejuvenated as he destroyed Johnathan Cyprien multiple times in coverage.

A game like this makes it hard to believe the Jaguars can contain the likes of Drew Brees and Matt Ryan, both of whom loom on the schedule.
