Blake Bortles suffered a sprained shoulder in the Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he is expected to play according to the latest Jacksonville Jaguars news.
"“The more he can stay upright and avoid contact, the more likely he can stay in the game,” said Schulz, who works at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.Bortles sustained a Grade 1 AC (acromioclavicular) joint sprain in Sunday’s 38-31 loss to Tampa Bay.The AC joint is located at the top of the shoulder between the end of the collarbone and tip of the shoulder blade."
"“On the [grading] scale, it’s the least severe, but it’s pretty painful,” Schulz said. “He’s going to be quite tender. It may affect his throwing, but players can bounce back from this injury pretty quickly. It depends on how he responds to the treatment. It’s definitely possible he can play this weekend.”Schulz said Bortles isn’t in great danger of making the injury worse by playing.“Very small,” said Schulz, who added the Jaguars’ medical staff could outfit Bortles’ shoulder pads with extra protection."
"“There was no in-game information provided to the team that indicated these symptoms,” Jaguars spokesman Tad Dickman said.Pierce was diagnosed with a hamstring strain late in the first half and did not play in the second half. He did not say anything to team doctors about concussion symptoms during that time, and it wasn’t until after he spoke to the media in the locker room, telling them he had no idea what happened on the punt, that he told doctors he wasn’t feeling well."
