The fun thing about doing weekly quarterback rankings for the AFC South, is that they can shift from week to week with wild abandon. For now, this is a good thing for Marcus Mariota.

If Mariota puts together some pretty poor games then we’ll be seeing him take a slide out of this top spot. Andrew Luck is right behind him, after all.

On Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Marcus Mariota put together a game with a perfect 158.3 passer rating. He completed 81.2% of his 16 passes, racking up 209 yards and four touchdowns.

Sure, Mariota was going up against the worst team in the league. Sure, he managed to put together a perfect passer rating on a small sample size of throws. But man, what a debut!

If Mariota can keep this up, he’ll be a serious contender not just as offensive rookie of the year, but as one of the best we’ve seen in a long, long time. I’m just not sure if he can keep it up.
