The Jacksonville Jaguars brought in Wisniewski to compete against Luke Bowanko for the starting center spot. While he has seasons of starting experience under his belt, there’s no guarantee that the more seasoned Wisniewski gets the start over second-year player Bowanko.
The Jags have made this a more public position battle through training camp and the two players are getting starts on an alternating basis to make it as fair as possible. Bowanko got the start last week so it’s Wisniewski’s turn to impress with the first team against the Giants.
Wis has a slight advantage, having followed new Jags offensive coordinator Greg Olson over from the Oakland Raiders. The offense is well installed across the unit, but Wisniewski’s experience with the system may give him an edge over Bowanko.
Does his play pop in comparison to Bowanko’s during this preseason game? Does he really wow with the first team? How does he handle pressure from first team defenses? Does he gel well with the rest of the offensive line and quarterback Blake Bortles?
From comparing butt sizes to play on the field, everything appears fair game in this position battle. Keep an eye on Wisniewski’s back side and play to see if he’s worthy of the starting job in 2015.
