Jeremiah George didn’t do everything right on Friday night, but he did plenty to impress.

He was all over the field, getting to the ball carrier quickly. He was coming into the backfield unblocked, he was tackling securely, and he kept his motor running at 100% while he was on the field.

I came away very impressed with him and think that he is definitely someone to keep an eye on going forward. He was atop the tackle chart for the Jaguars by the end of the night and I think that is also a good indicator of the strong play he exhibited.

George isn’t competing for a starting spot, so don’t expect him to be perfect. He is, however, looking like he could be a valuable addition to the depth at linebacker. I thought he was the most intense player on the field for the defense and if he can keep that aggressive play and high motor going then he’ll likely be on this team when the 53 man roster is announced.

Overall, I liked what I saw. There’s room for improvement here, though. I’d like to see him be more disciplined in future outings and still fly to the ball. That could come with time, however. It’s just his second season after being drafted in the fifth round by the New York Jets in 2014. I think he deserves more opportunities so a better evaluation can be made.
