Defense

Plus Guys

Roy Miller: +3.1 Overall, +1.9 Run Defense, +1.1 Pass Rush

Johnathan Cyprien: +1.9 Overall, +1.3 Run Defense, +0.5 Pass Coverage

Geno Hays: +0.8 Overall, +1.0 Run Defense

Great timing by Roy Miller to have a big game here, considering he just signed a 4-year contract extension to become a mainstay on this defensive line. Miller was credited with 3 stops in the run game, and he uncharacteristically provided a bit of a pass rush as well, collecting 2 QB hurries. Johnathan Cyprien also had a good game in run defense, amassing 8 tackles and 4 stops, and he wasn’t a liability in coverage. Geno Hayes is another guy who was credited with solid play in the running game, and he was by far the best linebacker on Sunday.

Minus Guys

J.T. Thomas: -3.4 Overall, -1.9 Run Defense, -1.4 Pass Coverage

Josh Evans: -2.7 Overall, -1.2 Run Defense, -1.5 Pass Coverage

Telvin Smith: -2.4 Overall, -1.9 Run Defense, -1.4 Pass Coverage

The Jacksonville linebackers had a rough outing outside of Hayes, as Thomas and Smith combined to give up 6 receptions on 9 targets for 92 yards. Joe Flacco had a lot of time in the pocket to let plays develop, and the Jaguars just couldn’t hang around in coverage on every play. Josh Evans was only credited with giving up one reception, but it was a big one to Marlon Brown.
