Plus Guys

Will Ta’ufo’ou: +1.5 Overall, +0.1 Pass Block, +1.4 Run Block

Zane Beadles: +0.9 Overall, +0.9 Pass Block, -0.2 Run Block

Cecil Shorts: +0.8 Overall, +0.2 Pass, +0.5 Run Block

There weren’t too many players on the offensive side of the ball who graded out well according to Pro Football Focus, and the highest grade went to Will T, who only played 11 snaps. Surprisingly enough, he had a very good game run blocking, and contributed on a big special teams play, picking up a first down on a fake punt. Zane Beadles continues to play solid football, and he did a good job this week against a good Ravens’ front.

Cecil Shorts recovered from his horrific performance last week against the Texans and put up respectable numbers, posting 76 yards on 6 receptions with 25 yards coming after the catch.

Minus Guys

Blake Bortles: -3.3 Overall, -2.3 Pass

Marqise Lee: -3.1 Overall, -2.2 Pass

Luke Bowanko:  -3.1 Overall, -2.4 Pass Block, +0.2 Run Block

Pro Football Focus has not been kind to Blake Bortles this season, and the poor grading continued on Sunday. His box score certainly wasn’t too impressive (21 of 37 for 210 yards and an interception), but Bortles made some plays and should have had significantly more yardage if not for some big drops. I’m not going to argue that he should be getting better grades, but I think there’s definitely progress being made, even if it’s not reflected in his scores.

Marqise Lee had a bad drop, and his usage rate right now is pretty terrible – he only managed to amass 14 yards on Sunday despite 9 targets. The Jaguars keep trying to utilize Lee on bubble screens, and those just aren’t effective right now.

Luke Bowanko had a rough day, as he was completely manhandled by Timmy Jernigan. Bowanko’s biggest detriment right now is his lack of strength, and that showed up against the Ravens as he gave up a sack and 3 QB hits.
