Mike Pete And The Other Adrian Peterson

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Jaguars | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Jaguar fans have a different kind of rivarly to look forward to this coming season. Of course there will always be the Titans, the Colts and to a lesser extent the Steelers. However, the Jaguars will also be playing the NFC North with the likes of the Green Bay Packers, the Detriot Lions, the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears.
It will be exciting to at least one Jaguar to play against Adrian Peterson.
But which Adrian Peterson?
Sure, sure. Adrian Peterson of the Viking awesome running back blah blah blah.
But the Chicago Bears have their own running back named Adrian Peterson, sometimes [...]

The Lonesome Case Of Lumbering Leftwich

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Jaguars | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Jaguar fans were shocked last year to see their offense actually (gasp) put up points. For instance, a major reason why I am such a Josh Scobee fan is because he was the one who was doing their job scoring points. We had one of the best defenses in the league but that was because we had no other choice — if our defense allowed more than 13 points there was no way we were going to even come close to winning.
I am not joking in the slightest bit.
Here are some scores from the 2006 season:

Week 2
Jaguars: 9
Steelers: 0
Week 3
Jaguars: [...]

Paul Spicer Signed To An Extension!

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Jaguars | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Defensive end Paul Spicer signed a contract extension today. The details of the contract are undisclosed.
At 32, Spicer is a 10 year veteran. He’s played 99 games in Jacksonville (53 of which he has started). He is fourth in team history with 25 sacks.
In theory, Spicer will be a good mentor to the rookies Quintin Groves and Derrick Harvey. He was one of the team captains for the Jaguars last year. Colts fans will remember him as “that dumb guy who got pissed about the refs last year“. Jaguar fans will know him as “that guy who spoke out about [...]

Jags raise 90k for tornado relief

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Jaguars | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

While I have been doing player profiles, the Jaguars have actually been, you know, trying to make the world a better place.
Before the Iowa floods, there were tornadoes.  In Iowa. That is what that state gets for having a caucus. Try to make our political process more engaging, eh? Mother nature doesn’t think so.
Anyway, one town in particular got ravaged pretty badly. Parkersburg, Iowa is a town of about 2,000. What made it so special that the Jaguars raised over 90 thousand dollars for it?
Well, to start, it is the home down of Jaguars center Brad Meester. It is also the home [...]

Florida summers miss their thunder and lightning: a look back on the Jaguars’ prime receiving corps

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Jaguars | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The Jaguars aren’t exactly known for their receiving game, right? It is hard not to think of a Jaguars team that doesn’t work Maurice Jones-Drew, Fred Taylor and occasionally Greg Jones like work horses.
That isn’t how it always was, though. Mark Brunell threw bombs to Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell. Fans cheered as they made huge play after huge play after touchdown. Seriously. It was crazy. Crazy awesome. The fans called them thunder and lightning. Keenan was ‘thunder’ because of his ability to run routes in the middle of the field with no fear of being hit hard by defenders. [...]

From Fragile Fred to Steady Freddy: A look at Fred Taylor’s Career

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Jaguars | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

If you ask any Jacksonvillian to name off Jaguar players, they would probably be able to name at least three. Even if they were not Jaguar fans. Think to yourself for a moment. Which ones can you name?
David Garrard.
Maurice Jones-Drew.
Fred Taylor.
And, maybe Matt Jones. Tons of people have his jersey for some reason. Maybe because it was on sale.
But only one of those names has had a long, outstanding career with the Jaguars. Fred Taylor, who reached the 10,000 yard benchmark in the 2007 season, has lit up the field recently. However, that was not always the case.
In college, Taylor’s [...]

Should the Jaguars move to LA?

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Jaguars | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

Well, gosh! It has been a big three days for me here at Black and Teal! According to Adam from Arrowhead Addict, I broke the record for most visits and comments on day one for an FSB blog. Who would have thought a little miss like me, making an off handed comment about a lame ad, would have gotten just so much attention? And I haven’t even talked about football yet! I guess I should do the job I got this blog for.
Jeanne mode: serious.
Isn’t that Josh Scobee character just so darling?
Oh. Wait. No. That isn’t it.
There are a lot [...]

I have been put in my place.

AUTHOR: Jeanne | IN: Past Articles | COMMENTS: 23 Comments

Oh gosh. I am just a poor little girl. I don’t know too much about that football thing. I mean, really. What is there to know beyond the fact that Tom Brady is soooo cuuuuuuuuute? Thankfully, I have The Landry Hat here to set me straight.
I love The Landry Hat and his Cowboys, especially that Jason Witten guy! He is just so fantastic. To show my appreciation, I have composed this list.
Five Reason why the Cowboys are so Effin’ Awesome
1. Their fans have an amazing sense of humor!
2. Their fans also are able to detect sarcasm a mile away on [...]
