The Jacksonville Jaguars addressed a huge roster void when they sent a 2027 sixth-round pick to the New York Giants in return for right guard Daniel Faalele. The move gives the Jags much-needed depth on the offensive line. On top of that, having Faalele around could push sophomore Wyatt Milum.
You could make the case that the Giants fleeced Jacksonville because he didn't appear to be part of their long-term plans and might have been shown the door on cutdown day if he hadn't been traded. However, adding depth and a player with ample starting experience in return for just a sixth-round selection seems like a fair price to pay.
Moreover, the Jags had an extra compensatory sixth-round selection after letting cornerback Greg Newsome walk in free agency. If that wasn't enough, because Faalele signed a veteran contract with New York, trading him won't count against the other compensatory picks Jacksonville is scheduled to get. This begs the question, just how many draft selections for 2027 do the Jags have?
Below is an updated list after trading for Faalele.
Updated list of Jackosnville Jaguars draft picks for 2027 after the Daniel Faalele trade
Aside from the compensatory six-rounder the Jags were going to get for Greg Newsome, they were also going to receive a fourth and a fifth in 2027 for allowing linebacker Devin Lloyd and running back Travis Etienne to leave in free agency.
As of this writing, the Jaguars also have their original 2027 picks. They made several trades in the 2026 draft, but all of them were for picks or slots in the same year. It's also worth noting that Jacksonville no longer owes any selections from the Travis Hunter trade.
Originally, the Jags gave up the fifth overall pick in 2025, their 2025 second-round selection, and a 2025 fourth-round pick in return for the second overall selection in 2025 and a fourth-rounder the same year.
Circling back to the draft picks the Jags have in 2027, here's the full list after the Daniel Faalele trade:
- Round 1
- Round 2
- Round 3
- Round 4
- Round 4 (compensatory)
- Round 5
- Round 5 (compensatory)
- Round 6 (compensatory)
- Round 7
Keep in mind that the list could change at any point. General manager James Gladstone isn't afraid to trade draft picks to fix roster holes with veteran players. Just before the start of the 2025 season, he gave up a sixth in return for wide receiver Tim Patrick. Just before the deadline, Jacksonville sent a fourth and a sixth to the Las Vegas Raiders in return for wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.
Similarly, Gladstone traded running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles during the season in return for a fifth and a sixth in 2026.
Don't be surprise if the Jaguars get a few more draft selections in the upcoming months.
