In 2025, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a season for the record books. Though he started off rough, No. 16 was admittedly working with yet another new head coach under another new offensive scheme. It would take any quarterback a little time to get adjusted. And once he got adjusted, it was lights out.

Lawrence transformed into an elite QB who was a true dual threat. Not only did he rewrite the team's history books but also made NFL history, with an especially impressive performance in Week 15. He became the only player in league history to rack up five passing touchdowns, 300 passing yards, one rushing touchdown, and 50 rushing yards, all in a single game.

There was some buzz surrounding Lawrence to receive several big honors from the league, and it wasn't much of a surprise; he cracked the top 10 for all quarterbacks in the league, playing the best football yet of his career. So his latest accolades aren't all that surprising for Jacksonville fans.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence just earned two huge nods from the NFL

The AP Awards Finalists for the 2025 season were announced in a press release, and Lawrence was nominated for two awards — league MVP and Comeback Player of the Year. No Jaguars player has ever been named either Most Valuable Player or Comeback Player of the Year, so winning either would be a huge accomplishment for the franchise.

Realistically, MVP is out. With the Jags having lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, his chances are insanely low. If the Patriots manage to make it to the big game, there's almost no doubt that Drake Maye will get that one.

But Comeback Player of the Year? That's a different story. Lawrence had career highs in passing touchdowns, rushing touchdowns, and rushing yards, and his passer rating (91.3) is the second-highest in his career.

Among NFL quarterbacks, the former Clemson Tiger ranked third in the NFL in total touchdowns, fifth in passing touchdowns, sixth in passing yards, and tied for second in rushing touchdowns. Considering he started the season with less-than-stellar play, that's quite a comeback indeed.

And let's not forget what Lawrence rebounded from; in 2024, he missed seven games with an AC joint sprain on his non-throwing arm and then, when he returned, he got that nasty concussion, thanks to a dirty hit from you-know-who.

Trevor Lawrence should be a lock for this one, and then next year, when he leads the Jags to their first-ever Super Bowl, he can worry about MVP.
