Trevor Lawrence embraces the pressure ahead of the Jaguars season finale

Luckily, the face of the franchise has been here before.

Well, this is what Trevor Lawrence was drafted for. Once upon a time, Shad Khan and the Jacksonville Jaguars selected the generational prospect with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since then, the Clemson standout has played in a Pro Bowl, won an AFC South Championship, and quarterbacked one of the craziest postseason games in NFL history.

In the team's 2025-2026 regular season finale, Lawrence will be asked to complete step two of the same process the Jags went through to win his first division title back in 2022. What was the first step, you ask? The monstrous seven-game win streak the team started after losing to the Houston Texans in heartbreaking fashion.

For those who've forgotten, Jacksonville won six of its last seven games to set the stage against the Tennessee Titans in that year's de facto AFC South Championship matchup.

During a media availability session, Lawrence reflected on the significance of this week's must-win contest against the Titans. The franchise QB didn't mince words and made sure to let members of the media know what his mind was focused on during practice.

Trevor Lawrence lets the world know he's ready to win his second division championship

"Winning the division."

"Continue to control the division, keep it in our hands."

"We're here to win the division this week."

In a video on the team's official Twitter account, Lawrence chats about the reward waiting on the other side of the door if the Jags handle business against Tennessee. He says that the team had to stay consistent while Houston tallied up its own win streak after starting the season with a 0-3 record.

If Jax were to lose and the Texans beat the Indianapolis Colts, Trevor Lawrence and his squad would immediately become a Wild Card team.

Fortunately, Jaguars fans can rest easy after watching the clip above. Lawrence communicated three different times that finishing as a division champion is his primary objective. Even though the fifth-year signal caller is a surprise MVP candidate going into Week 18, he's always been a team-first player who strives to accomplish what the offense requires from him instead of chasing his own stats.

His selflessness will be an asset while Jax works to sweep a franchise that's been a thorn in its backside for over 20 years. Over in Nashville, the Titans' official website claims that Cam Ward has thrown at least two touchdown passes in each of the four games he's played since the team's 25-3 loss to Jacksonville on November 13.

Tennessee wants the former Miami Hurricane to finish his rookie year on the highest note possible, and doing so would save the folks in two-tone blue from a frightening timeline.

With a bit of help, the Jags can be the AFC's top-seeded team and earn a first-round bye. If the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, and New York Giants were to win their games this week, the Titans could be picking first overall for the second time in two years. That isn't a desirable outlook for the team that fired the runaway favorite for Coach of the Year because they wanted to create a more collaborative environment.
