This team could provide a first-round trade-up opportunity for the Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars currently hold the 24th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. That is a long way away from having the first overall pick as they did in 2021 and 2022. It was a great year for them in 2022-23 as they won their division and a playoff game. The future is bright.
Speaking of the first overall pick in the draft, the Chicago Bears entered the off-season with that selection as they were the worst team in the NFL last year. They have since traded the pick to the Carolina Panthers for an absolute haul.
Part of that haul is the ninth overall pick. If they are looking to trade back again, which is something that could absolutely be possible, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a team that is smart to make a move like that.
It would be a risky move but the Jaguars need to make some risky moves if they are going to beat the Kansas City Chiefs or Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs. It isn't like those are the only good teams in the AFC either so the Jaguars need to come out firing this spring/summer.
The Jacksonville Jaguars would love to have the ninth overall pick.
There are a lot of very good players that are going to be considered at pick nine. There is a chance that Jalen Carter falls to that pick which is intriguing but the other players there are important to look at as well.
The Jaguars would love to add a very good edge rusher. Lukas van Ness (Iowa) and Nolan Smith (Georgia) are just two of some very good players that also deserve to be in this conversation for that selection.
What would Chicago be wanting in a trade? Well, moving from nine to 24 is going to take some pieces. The chances are that the Bears would want more draft picks knowing that this is a very good draft all around. Again, it would be risky business for both but something that could work.
There are other teams to trade up with but the Bears already moved down and you'd think that they might be interested in doing it again.
