What are Fantasy Football owners saying about Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley?

In a super-unscientific poll of team owners of dubious fantasy distinction (the guys in my league), the results about Ridley's fantasy potential were much the same, that is to say inconsistent. I won't mention any names in order to protect the innocent, but one owner - let's call him The RIG - stated, "I think he will be a stud but T-Law and Kirk built up a good connection last year. That said, Ridley is better than Kirk."

Conversely, another owner - let's just call him Fat - said, "My fear is he's gonna draw double coverage. Personally, I stay away from him." A third owner - let's call him Big Swingin' Daddy - drew this conclusion, "I think he's hungry and really wants to prove himself. The Jags have a lot of weapons though. Depends on the number of targets." Lastly, T-Roy said, "I think he has top-five to 10 potential but I don't think I'd pay or be able to draft him where I'd feel comfortable taking him. He's prob too rich for my blood."

These statements need to be taken with a grain of salt because these owners would sell their own mothers if they thought they'd gain an extra .05 ppr. Their statements could all be misdirection and deception so as to not reveal their true fantasy strategies. But they are all seasoned fantasy owners with deep knowledge (except for RIG) of fantasy football and their comments, while possibly a ruse, are legitimate and insightful.

All kidding aside, the Ridley riddle is sure to have team owners wringing their hands and cursing their fellow owners come draft day. While I cannot give a definitive answer about Ridley's projections for the season, I will say that after 30 years of drafts, I have one piece of advice. Trust your gut. If you think he's going to be a stud, draft him earlier than his average ADP.

If you think he's going to be a bust, take a hard pass and add depth at another position instead. Good luck either way. Calvin Ridley is going to make or break many fantasy teams this year. The question is will he be an Iron Man or a Shot in the Dark? I Don't Know (pun intended).
