The Jaguars can expect the Colts to only get better from here
The Jacksonville Jaguars played a great game against the Indianapolis Colts. They took care of their business against them with a 31-21 win.
The offense did what we expected them to do which is utilize a ton of weapons to score a lot of points.
The defense was great which is big because they can be the key to this team getting over the hump in the playoffs.
Now, the Jaguars are in first place in the AFC South. It is early in the season but the Jaguars should be able to win this division with relative ease. None of these teams are on the same level in terms of talent.
With that in mind, we learned something from this win on Sunday. On paper, the Indianapolis Colts might be the worst or second-worst team on paper. However, that isn't going to last.
The Indianapolis Colts will be trouble for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Colts made things very hard on the Jaguars in this game. Before the Jags pulled away in the end, Indy made it feel like an upset was in the works.
That is because they play hard, don't give up, and their rookie quarterback might be better than we thought.
Jacksonville Jaguars fans know just how an elite talent coming to play quarterback can change everything. We don't know if Anthony Richardson will be elite but his first career game was a great sign.
Richardson went 24/37 for 223 yards in his NFL debut. He passed for one touchdown and threw one interception. He also carried the ball 10 total times for 40 yards.
Jonathan Taylor isn't with the Colts right now which changes things but seeing Richardson lead the team in rushing yards in his first game is still crazy.
He looks like someone who can change games with his legs and arm which is a lethal combination in the NFL.
He was an elite quarterback prospect at Florida and that is why he was the fourth overall pick. So far, he is making the Colts look smart for taking him.
If this continues, and the Colts build around Richardson the way the Jaguars built around Lawrence, they are going to be a problem in short order. The AFC South may get very interesting over the next handful of years and that is going to be so fun.
