The Jacksonville Jaguars came out firing in 2023. After winning a playoff game as division winners last year, there were some high hopes coming in.

They played very well in their first game against the Indianapolis Colts and won it by a final score of 31-21. There was a bumpy beginning but they managed to figure it out and pull ahead

This was the first time that Trevor Lawrence beat the Colts in his career. This also snapped a five-game losing streak for Jacksonville against the Colts in Indianapolis.

Going there and finally breaking that streak was very important for them. Beating your division rivals is one of the big needs for a successful NFL team.

The Jacksonville Jaguars needed a big road win this weekend and got it.

Of course, getting this divisional win put them a game ahead of the Colts. The other good news is that the Houston Texans lost to the Baltimore Ravens while the Tennessee Titans lost to the New Orleans Saints.

That means that every AFC South team is 0-1 except for the Jaguars who are 1-0. They are in first place all by themselves which is just outstanding news.

You're probably thinking about how this was just one game. Well, guess what? They only play 17 of these things which is not a lot.

Every week is incredibly important in this league. It can be the difference between winning a division or losing it and missing the playoffs entirely.

If the Jaguars can start to go on a run of wins, they can put this division away early. If they do that, they can start focusing on being the number one seed.

Those might sound like crazy expectations but when you have a quarterback like Trevor Lawrence, you should be going for it. This is the time for the Jaguars to win. Their offense is great and their defense is just getting started.

Waking up in first place all by yourself is literally never a bad thing. Hopefully, they can keep it up all season long. There is no reason to think they can't.
