The Jacksonville Jaguars are a team that is lucky enough to be led by a top-flight quarterback. Trevor Lawrence has some work to do still but all signs point to him being an elite player

Jacksonville landed Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was seen as one of the best quarterback prospects in history.

Zach Wilson (New York Jets), Trey Lance (San Francisco 49ers), Justin Fields (Chicago Bears), and Mac Jones (New England Patriots) were the other quarterbacks taken after Lawrence in that 2021 draft. Of course, there will always be comparisons.

Wilson is now backing up Aaron Rodgers in New York because he wasn’t good enough.  Clearly, the Jets would take that pick back if they could. The same can be said for Trey Lance as the 49ers have already traded him away after moving mountains to draft him.

Mac Jones is an okay player but there is no high end to his game. That leaves Justin Fields as the only one from that class besides Lawrence with the potential to become a star.

Trevor Lawrence is still much better than Justin Fields at the NFL level.

He is only 5-20 with the Bears so far but they have been a bad football team around him. Fields is a very good running quarterback but he hasn't begun to be great in the pocket throwing.

Honestly, at this point in time, even Fields is nowhere close to Lawrence. Yes, Fields is the second-best one from the class and it isn't really close either way. Third place isn't close to him and he isn't close to Lawrence.

Trevor had a significantly better preseason than Fields. This came following the year when Fields' team (although not all his fault) went 3-14 and Lawrence won a playoff game after winning the division.

Lawrence is closer to the big three in the NFL (Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow) than he is Justin Fields' level. Fields could absolutely ascend into that type of player but he isn't there right now.

The Jaguars got the best quarterback in that class and one of the best quarterbacks to be drafted in recent memory.
