The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't doing too great, currently riding a four-game losing skid to start the 2024 season. Fortunately for them, it's not too late to turn things around, and what better time to get their first win of the season than Week 5?

Fresh off a loss to the Houston Texans, the Jags will next take on the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium, and there are three reasons they should be incentivized to put an end to their losing streak.

The Jaguars are inducting Tom Coughlin into the Pride of The Jaguars

Tom Coughlin rubbed players the wrong way when he was the vice president of football operations in the late 2010s. However, there was a time when he was one of the top head coaches in the NFL.

Back in the late 1990s, Coughlin turned Jacksonville into a powerhouse, making four straight playoff trips and reaching the AFC Championship twice. It's fair to say that he's the most successful head coach in franchise history. Heck, that was the whole reason the organization brought him back.

Say what you want about Coughlin's stint as the EVP. His outdated methods didn't resonate with players, but that didn't in any way tarnish his legacy as a great head coach. The team wants to honor that legacy by inducting him into Pride of the Jaguars, their Ring of Honor.

Players are thrilled, about Coughlin's joining other Jaguars legends in the Pride. For instance, Christian Kirk thinks this will be huge.

"I know everything that he (Coughlin) has done for this organization," Kirk said via the team's official website. "We just want to pay homage to everybody that has paved the way for us to be here and to be able to play for this organization."

"What a better way to do it than back home in a divisional game and in those uniforms, too. It will be an exciting weekend. It's great to be part of that and pay homage to those guys."

Head coach Doug Pederson, for his part, wants players to be aware of the impact Coughlin had, "I just wanted to bring it to their attention. It's the history of the Jaguars, and it's important that they know that and that we get to celebrate coach Coughlin and also getting some former players, some legends back this weekend to see and visit."

Since the Jags moved on from Coughlin, they've struggled to find sustained success, having made the playoffs just four times in the last 20 seasons. That goes on to show how good they were when he was in the fold, or how mediocre they've been since he left. Either way, they'll be honoring him when they face the Colts in Week 5.

The Jaguars will be wearing their throwback when they play the Colts

The Jaguars have changed uniforms several times in the last 20 years. Some of them have been dreadful (we're looking at you, Color Rush). Others have been fine, but none have rocked as much as the original jerseys did.

In recent years, several teams have brought back their throwbacks, but one was missing on the fun, at least until now: the Jags. Fortunately, it looks like they've been listening to feedback and they'll be "throwing it back to '95'.

Earlier this year, the team teased the return of the "Prowler" jerseys, the ones they wore in their inaugural season and up until 2008. It would take long for them to officially announce that they would be bringing back the throwbacks for their Week 5 matchup in 2024.

Keep in mind that the Prowlers aren't making a permanent return, and it's hard to tell how many more times the Jaguars will wear them. That should motivate them to play a great game against the Colts.

The Jaguars haven't lost to the Indianapolis Colts since 2014

Death, taxes, and beating the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank. Those are the three certainties in life, at least dating back to 2014, the last time Indy managed to beat the Jags at the Bank. Since then, they have lost every single match as visitors.

Even when Jacksonville has been dreadful, it's been able to fend off their divisional foes. In 2020, they only won one game, their opener against Indianapolis. The following season, they had to deal with the Urban Meyer debacle, and one of the few bright spots that year was beating the Colts in the finale to knock them out of playoff contention.

While fans and the Jaguars themselves would surely want to forget what transpired in 2021, they most definitely remember the finale, dubbed the #KhlownOut movement, fondly. Sure, their objective β€” getting general manager Trent Baalke fired β€” didn't work, but at least they managed to keep their winning streak against the Colts alive.

Three years later, that streak remains alive and it would be a shame if the Jags end it. That's why they cannot afford to lose to the dreaded Colts in Week 5.
