The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently 0-4. While they've played well at times, their bright spots haven't been nearly enough to overcome their mistakes. Compounding the issue is that head coach Doug Pederson publicly criticized his players to defend offensive coordinator Press Taylor. But as disappointing as they've been, the Jags still have time to turn things around and a notable NFL personality offers the perfect solution.

Rich Eisen recently talked about the struggles Jacksonville and its fans have had to endure, pointing out that Pederson's comments were out of character for him but he understands where he's coming from.

"I mean, that is such an uncharacteristic thing for Doug Peterson to say, but totally honest. I can't execute the plays. It's a two-way street," Eisen told co-host Chris Brockman. "And then, I think he immediately caught himself knowing what he just said, and he said, point the finger at me. If you're pointing fingers. He's not wrong. He's not wrong. They had the game right there. It's not because it was a guy called a bad game. And that's uncharacteristic, and I'm wondering if he's feeling the pressure. Certainly gets questions about his future."

Later in the conversation, Eisen says that beating the Indianapolis Colts at home in Week 5 and they going 2-0 against the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots in London would put the Jaguars in a prime position to regain control of their season.

"You want to talk about a massive home game the Indianapolis Colts and maybe Joe Flacco are coming to town. I mean, you want to talk about must-win in Week 5. This is about it because then, sort of what they're used to, which is go to London for two weeks and just leave all this craziness behind if they can win this and then get on a flight and then bond together in London, like this team frequently does."

"They can come back if they win against Chicago and New England 3-5 with a home date against Green Bay, and here we go. Certainly before some serious meet against Green Bay, at Philly, home for Minnesota, at Detroit, and then you got to BYE, get a little breather. The path is there. I know I'm being really peaches and cream, glass half full here. But that kid, Brian Thomas, is really good. There's pieces there, yeah. Getting Evan Engram back healthy, wipe that slate clean. Win one at home London. Bond together, come back. One game under you, and you got yourself a shot here."

Eisen is right. Despite all their issues, the Jaguars have the chance to get back on track in part because they have a favorable schedule. As he points out, it won't be a walk in the part but is doable.

The Colts are dealing with plenty of injuries, and they haven't beaten Jacksonville at EverBank Stadium since 2014, so they should feel good about their chances. On the other hand, it looks like the Jags have found the formula to succeed in London, having won three of their last four games overseas. In 2024, they have the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears, two rebuilding teams still trying to figure things out.

It's up to the Jaguars to regain control of a season that's quickly slipping

All things considered, Rich Eisen's scenario is possible but there's a reason the Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-4. They've been massively inconsistent on offense, and that falls on both the coaching staff and the players. The defense did give up 47 points to the Buffalo Bills in Week 3 but has mostly held its own this season.

The Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns have been underwhelming this season. Yet, the Jags couldn't beat either. If they play the way they have, they won't be able to beat the Indianapolis Colts, let alone go 0-3. Then again, the team has done just about enough to make you think that if they become more consistent on offense and put their players in a position to succeed, they can indeed turn things around.

The truth is that the Jaguars have nobody to blame for themselves for their dreadful start to the 2024 season. The good news is that they can still dig their way out of the hole they put themselves in, but they cannot afford to waste any more time.
