The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the best teams in the NFL. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They should be coming into this 2023 season with lofty expectations.

Led by an elite quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, they should believe that their offense can outscore anyone in the National Football League.

If their defense takes even a slight step forward, they should be able to make a big step in the playoffs this year.

One player that is key to that big-time offense is Evan Engram. Last year, his first with Jacksonville, he was one of the best tight ends in the whole league.

The Jacksonville Jaguars must make sure Evan Engram is focused on 2023.

Now, he is still looking for a long-term contract. 2023 should, however, be his only concern right now. There isn't much to worry about beyond this year because of the expectations on this team.

After 2023, they can deal with whatever Engram decides about his future. If they have a Super Bowl win or even a deep playoff run of some kind, they will be happy with how the year went.

Playing alongside Lawrence and the rest of the good weapons on offense that this team now has, Engram should be able to thrive even more than he did a year ago.

If that is the case, he will get even more money than he would if he were a free agent right now. Due to the fact that he can make even more money and potentially be on a very successful team, he should only be focused on the present.

Engram isn't the only player who should have this mentality either. The Jaguars are built for sustained success but those windows can close easily and quickly. Everyone involved should believe in what they can do as a team so they can go out there and act on it.
