Acquiring Aaron Donald would put the Jaguars right there with the Chiefs
The Jacksonville Jaguars narrowly lost in the second round of the 2023 NFL Playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs. They made it close against the team that eventually won the Super Bowl.
Of course, Kansas City is going to be right back there again this year in terms of teams that have a chance to win it all.
Patrick Mahomes being their quarterback is the biggest reason for that. He is one of the greatest players that the league has ever seen.
Well, although Trevor Lawrence might not be Mahomes, he is one of the very best quarterbacks in the game right now. He is the type of talent that can absolutely win the Super Bowl if his team is good.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are always looking to improve the roster.
It does take more than just a great quarterback though and the Chiefs know that. The Jaguars know it too as they have been building their team up to what it is now for a few years.
They have lots of other good players on both offense and defense but there is no doubt that the defensive side of the ball could use some work.
There are thoughts out there that Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams could become available. A few years after winning the Super Bowl, the Rams are in desperate need of a rebuild.
Los Angeles went all in on winning the Super Bowl at least once. They did but now they are going to suffer. Getting something for Donald would certainly escalate the rebuild.
He is still one of the better pass rushers in the National Football League. Not many quarterbacks enjoy playing with him starring them down.
If he did become available, the Jaguars would be so smart to consider it. He'd help them get to the same level as those aforementioned Chiefs.
Donald probably doesn't have more than a few years left at an elite level but he still has enough time to be an impact player on a really good team.
With some of the younger players that the Jaguars have built the defense around, Donald would be a great fit as both a mentor and player.
It is unclear what the plan is for the Rams at this time but the Jaguars should be ready to pounce when they are ready to sell.
