The Jacksonville Jaguars had a tough time putting the Philadelphia Eagles away in Week 5 but ultimately came out on top with Cam Little's walk-off field goal. With a win over the Houston Texans in their second London game, the Jags could solidify their spot as one of the best teams in the NFL. It could also strengthen their case to earn a primetime flex once they return from their BYE.

Rob Tornoe of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the league is considering moving the Week 8 contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders from Sunday Night Football.

If the NFL does flex SNF, Jacksonville's game against the Indianapolis Colts most definitely deserves primetime.

Why the Jaguars vs. the Colts deserve to be in primetime for Week 8

The NFL may only move the Jaguars to primetime in Week 8 if they beat Houston, but it's most definitely a possibility. Mike Florio of Pro Football Focus thinks it could happen.

"Colts-Jaguars is a possibility; the Jaguars are 4-1, and the Colts should move to 3-3 this weekend with a home game against the 0-5 Titans," Florio said. "The league would need to consider whether Eagles-Commanders would carry extra national sizzle than Colts-Jaguars even if both Philadelphia and Washington lose this weekend."

Keep in mind that aside from the Jags, the NFL could also flex the Baltimore Ravens against the Buffalo Bills or the Detroit Lions against the Minnesota Vikings. You could even make the case that both matchups are more appealing and would be bigger draws.

But if the Jags are 5-1 going into their BYE, they'll surely get consideration. Heck, they already have three primetimes this season because they went 13-4 last year: Thursday Night against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9, Monday Night against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14, and Sunday Night against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16.

Nobody would bat an eye if Jacksonville gets the fourth one because it's picked up where it left off.

The more the Jaguars win, the more they'll get the national spotlight

The Jaguars don't get much attention from the national media because they've struggled to win games on a constistent basis. They made the playoffs in 2017 and 2022 and failed to qualify for the postseason the following two years.

Of course, the fact that Jacksonville is a small-market team and is relatively young in comparison to other clubs also played a role. However, the Jags will be hard to ignore if they make the playoffs for the second year in a row and make the most of their prime-time chances.

Ideally, the Jaguars will be flexed to primetime if they keep winning this season. But if they're ultimately passed, you can bet that head coach Liam Coen will use it as a few to prove why they deserve more attention.
