Unlike 2025, the Jacksonville Jaguars won't be looking for a new head coach in this coaching cycle. That said, they could lose some of their assistants to clubs with a vacancy. While Grant Udinski is drawing consideration for a pair of jobs, defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile is also getting head-coaching interest for a pair of vacancies.
Since several searches are still ongoing, the Jags will have to wait to find out whether one (or both) of their coordinators will leave. The good news is that, based on a recent report, they can almost scrape off a potential opening for Campanile.
The Jaguars probably won't be losing Anthony Campanile to the Ravens
NFL reporter Jason La Canfora reports that clubs with an opening believe the Baltimore Ravens are trending toward hiring Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as their head coach. Here's the skinny.
"Execs from multiple NFL front offices who are conducting head coaching searches believe the Ravens are moving close to a final decision and strongly anticipate Chargers DC Jesse Minter getting the job," La Canfora posted on Twitter. "The industry also expected Minter in BAL before Harbaugh was let go, FWIW."
Of course, it won't be a done deal until Minter puts his John Hancock on the dotted line. That said, this should increase Jacksonville's odds of keeping Campanile, who had also interviewed for the opening.
Baltimore just dismissed John Harbaugh after the 2025 season ended. The coaching search to find his replacement will have been relatively brief if Minter does get the gig. Having said that, the Jags could still be at risk of losing Campanile.
Aside from the Ravens job, Campanile had also interviewed for the Miami Dolphins job, but it ended up going to Jeff Hafley.
Then again, Campanile also met with the Arizona Cardinals to fill their vacancy after Jonathan Gannon was let go. He's already scheduled a second interview. That said, the Cards are generally being seen as the least attractive vacancy in this hiring cycle. That could ultimately disuade Campanile from getting the job. Still, the Jaguars cannot uncork the champagne just yet. On the other hand, the prospect of running his own team, even one with bad ownership, may be too good to pass up.

The Jaguars are embracing the possibility of losing Anthony Campanile
Whether the Jaguars lose Anthony Campanile or not in this hiring cycle, they have a potential candidate to replace him right away or down the road. Just days after dismissing secondary coach Ron Milus, they brought in former Miami Dolphins cornerbacks coach Mathieu Araujo to fill the vacancy.
When the Phins made Mike McDaniel the head coach in 2022, he added Araujo and Campanile to his staff, so the two of them have previously worked together and share the same defensive philosophy. That makes Araujo an ideal heir apparent to Campanile. Granted, the Jags would like to keep the latter for at least one more season, but if he leaves, the latter could step in his place.
The good news is that the Jaguars will no longer have to worry about Campanile going to the Ravens if the Jesse Minter report is accurate. Then again, they still need to wait to see how the Cardinals' search plays out.
