Latest intel suggests Jaguars' odds of keeping Anthony Campanile just went up

• That's good news for the Packers (and the Jaguars).

After a successful 2024, the Jacksonville Jaguars were at risk of losing assistant coaches Grant Udinski and Anthony Campanile. Both coordinators are drawing interest from teams with head-coaching openings and have interviewed in recent days.

Udinksi just completed a virtual interview for the opening with the Cleveland Browns. He doesn't appear to be the frontrunner but seems to have a favorable chance of landing the gig. Campanile, on the other hand, met with the Miami Dolphins for their vacancy after dismissing Mike McDaniel. But based on a recent report, his odds of getting the job have decreased considerably.

Jeff Hafley is the favorite to get the head-coaching job with the Miami Dolphins

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is the favorite to become the nead head coach for the Miami Dolphins. He had a virtual meeting with them the week prior.

Although Hafley still has four interviews scheduled with other clubs, he's trending toward getting the job with the Dolphins. This isn't necessarily surprising when you take into account that — like Anthony Campanile — has ties to Miami general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan dating back to their time with the Packers.

If Hafley does land with the Phins, and it looks like it's a matter of time based on Pelissero's report, Anthony Campanile would remain with the Jags, as he isn't a candidate for other head-coaching vacancies for the moment.

The Jaguars will love to have Anthony Campanile back in 2026

The same day Tom Pelissero broke the Jeff Hafley news, the New York Giants finalized a deal to hire John Harbaugh as their next head coach. That's two fewer openings. There are still a handful out there, but they're beginning to get filled. While there's no doubt that Anthony Campanile would want a promotion, the Jaguars will most definitely welcome him back with arms wide open.

After all, Campanile had been a defensive coordinator for a season, but his unit showed notable improvement right off the bat. Imagine how much his stock will surge if the Jacksonville defense comes through once again in 2026.

The Jags, for their part, will definitely need Campanile back. Sure, they could find a competent replacement, but having consistency next season will be huge, especially if they lose cornerback Montaric Brown and linebacker Devin Lloyd in free agency.

The bottom line is that Anthony Campanile may need to wait until next year (maybe a bit more) to become a head coach, but another season with the Jaguars could turn out to be highly beneficial.
