The Jacksonville Jaguars have had contract talks with Parker Washington, but they haven't been able to strike a deal. The good news is that the Jags are willing to continue negotiations during the regular season. Then again, they would be better off getting it done right now to prevent the impasse from becoming a distraction.
That said, Jacksonville and Washington appear to be several million dollars apart, and nobody would be shocked if he wants a deal similar to the one fellow receiver Michael Wilson just got.
Based on a recent update, though, maybe the Jaguars and Washington can reach an agreement before Week 1 of the regular season.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN says that the Jaguars and Parker Washington could strike an extension before the season opener, noting that he would rather get it done now than negotiate during the regular season.
"It's possible. Parker Washington is a hot name in Jacksonville right now because he's had a tremendous camp. He's a safety valve for Trevor Lawrence. He's expected to have a big year, so because of that, he wants big dollars," Fowler said. "Now both sides have been talking about a contract. This one does have a chance to get done before Week 1.
Fowler continued, "I'm told the player would prefer to get it done and not have this linger in season, whereas Jacksonville is comfortable continuing talks during the season if the player wants to engage. So it's interesting because Michael Wilson in Arizona got that deal done, $25 million a year and change. So that is a nice comp for that player to potentially reach a deal. He's not a household name, doesn't have a bunch of accolades or big yardage, but he is really valued in that offense."
Washington and Jacksonville are rumored to be $25 million apart in compensation. Early in the offseason, he was projected to sign a four-year deal worth $64 million ($16 million per year), but several receivers have gotten extensions since the end of 2025. The latest is Michael Wilson, who got a three-year, $75 million deal from the Arizona Cardinals.
Nobody would be surprised if Washington is aiming for that kind of contract, and even though he would like to get it done now, it seems like he's willing to bet on himself next season.

The Jaguars and Parker Washington must find common ground
The biggest hurdle preventing Parker Washington from getting more than $20 million per year is that he's only had more than 500 yards in a season once and, unlike Michael Wilson, has never crossed the 1,000-yard mark in his career. Then again, the former Sugar Land, Texas native has a reason to stand his ground in negotiations.
For starters, Washington is expected to be the team's top receiver in 2026. He had several long catches last year and will run more vertical routes next season. On top of that, the former Penn State Nittany Lion could also handle return duties at times. On the other hand, his contract demands may be unreasonable from a team perspective, so they'll need to compromise.
Unless the Jaguars and Parker Washington reach an agreement before the regular season, he'll have no choice but to have a banner year. If he does, they will gladly meet whatever contract demands he has.
