Just like last year when he acquired wide receiver Tim Patrick, general manager James Gladstone made a trade before the regular season. This time, the Jacksonville Jaguars acquired quarterback Quinn Ewers from the Miami Dolphins in return for a sixth-round selection in 2028, which they later recovered.
Based on his track record, nobody would bat an eye if Gladstone made a few other deals before the 2026 deadline. But instead of acquiring players, he could move on from a few of them to amass draft ammo next year.
With this in mind, here are four players the Jags could trade before the 2026 deadline.
Walker Little, offensive tackle (Return value 4th-round pick in 2027)
Walker Little was at the center of trade speculation in the offseason, but the Jaguars kept him around as insurance during Cole Van Lanen's recovery from a knee injury he suffered late in 2025.
Van Lanen was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list in August, but his availability for the start of the season is up in the air. Little could fill in for him at right tackle to avoid rushing back before he's ready.
But once Van Lanen takes over the right tackle spot, Little could garner interest from teams in need of help at left tackle. Moving him would then become an option if Wyatt Milum shows improvement, and the Jags are comfortable with their depth on the offensive line.
DaVon Hamilton, defensive tackle (Return value: 5th-round pick in 2027)
DaVon Hamilton is the heart of the Jacksonville defense and one big reason the Jags excelled at stuffing the run in 2025. That said, he's entering a contract year, and the team's brass already has his potential heir apparent in Albert Regis. Of course, Regis would need to stand out early in the season for the Jags to be comfortable trading Ham, but it could happen.
Of course, there's also a scenario in which Hamilton stays in 2026, but he's entering a contract year, and unless Jacksonville wants to extend him, the best course of action may be to trade him and acquire a draft pick.
Eric Murray, safety (Return value : 5th-round pick)
The Jaguars have a logjam at safety. They signed Eric Murray last year to bring stability in their back end. He fared well and is slated to be a Week 1 starter in 2026. That said, Caleb Ransaw and rookie Jalen Huskey are waiting in the wings.
If Ransaw and Huskey show progress before the deadline, the Jags could move on from Murray (and get some type of compensation) to make room for them next to Antonio Johnson.
Ventrell Miller (Return value: 6th-round pick)
After the Jaguars let Devin Lloyd walk in free agency, they expected Ventrell Miller to fill the void at linebacker. But Branson Combs emerged in the offseason program and competed with him for the starting job next to Foyesade Oluokun.
There was no clear winner in the battle, so Miller and Combs will share snaps, at least early in the regular season. But if Combs makes progress, Jacksonville could trade Miller to clear the path for him.
Miller is entering a contract year and doesn't appear to be part of the team's long-term plans, so the Jags could try to get something for him rather than letting him walk in free agency in return for nothing.
