Oftentimes, when professional athletes talk about playing sports for a living, they often express the sentiment that they’re getting paid millions to play a child’s game. However, a lot of the child-like joy that’s innate to sports are often zapped at the pro level because of the pressure to win, contract negotiations, organization politics, and all of the other things that come with sports being a business.
Fortunately for Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter, none of that has bogged him down yet. The second-overall pick takes the field everyday, whether it be on offense or defense, like he’s still the kid playing out in the yard when he first fell in love with the game. That contiguous joy is obvious through Hunter’s nonstop dance moves and choreographed celebrations after his acrobatic plays, but he recently explained with his words that he’s still just a kid living out his dream.

Travis Hunter promises to bring the juice everyday while living out his dream
Hunter was asked how has it been letting his personality shine through, and the rookie explained that it’s easy. He knows he’s going to bring the energy everyday, and keep a smile on everyone’s face. The two way sensation believes it’s important to have fun, and remember they’re all just kids living out their dreams.
That mindset is what makes Hunter such a loveable player on and off the field. He knows how to have a good time while taking care of business, and that makes things fun for everyone. Jaguars fans have already been having fun watching Hunter make plays on both sides of the ball in practice, and the league can’t wait to see what his workload will look like in training camp and in the regular season.
So far, Hunter has spent some practice strictly as a receiver, and others working exclusively as a cornerback. However, head coach Liam Coen said eventually, in training camp, Hunter will have days where he spends time on both sides of the ball in one practice. With him doing that in games as the ultimate goal, Jacksonville has to find the best path to make that happen. One thing for certain, Hunter will be having fun every step of the way.
