Jaguars offense not missing a beat despite Tank Bigsby concerning injury news
The Jacksonville Jaguars already were without Trevor Lawrence in Week 10. They've just lost another key cog on offense. On the bright side, they seem to be doing just fine against the Minnesota Vikings.
On the Jags' second drive of the game, running back Tank Bigsby got hurt and had trouble getting up. He left the field with assistance and is currently out of the game with an ankle injury.
Update: Tank Bigsby is back in the game.
A third-round pick in last year's draft, Bigsby had an underwhelming rookie campaign but has established himself as one of the team's most dynamic difference-makers in 2024. At one point of the season, the former Auburn Tiger was averaging 6.2 yards per tote. He entered the game with 93 carries for 515 yards with four touchdowns.
It's also worth noting that Bigsby was listed as questionable with an ankle injury for Week 10, but as of this writing, it hasn't been announced how he got hurt.
The silver lining is that the Jaguars have Travis Etienne in the fold. A first-round pick in the 2021 draft, the former Clemson Tiger had over 1,400 yards from scrimmage each of the past two years. While he's taken somewhat of a backseat due to Bigsby's ascension, Etienne is a more capable player, so the Jacksonville rushing game shouldn't experience a drop-off.
On the Jaguars' first two drives, Etienne had three carries for 18 yards. For the season, he's logged 59 carries for 254 yards with two touchdowns.
The Jaguars are thriving in spite of injuries to Trevor Lawrence and Tank Bigsby
With Trevor Lawrence dealing with a shoulder sprain, Mac Jones made his first start ever as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. After spending his first three seasons with the New England Patriots he was traded to the Jags earlier this year in exchange for a sixth-round selection.
Jones couldn't get much done on the team's first possession but capped off a nine-play, 70-yard drive with a one-yard run to make it 7-3.
So far, Jones has been efficient, going 5-of-6 for fifty yards on the Jags' first two drives of the game. There's plenty of football left on the game, but Jacksonville should be thrilled with how the fourth-year quarterback is playing in Lawrence's absence.
On the opposite sideline, Sam Darnold, a first-round pick quarterback like Jones, was 3-of-6 on the Vikings' first two drives. One of them ended on a field goal by kicker John Parker Romo, who's making his regular-season debut after waiting for an opportunity since 2022, when he went undrafted.
