Jaguars inactives against the Browns in Week 1

After months of hard work, the Jacksonville Jaguars will finally get to see how good they are when they welcome the Cleveland Browns at EverBank Stadium in Week 1 of the 2026 season. Leaving aside that a win would allow the Jags to get off to a strong start, they'll be looking to end a losing skid to quarterback Deshaun Watson, having last defeated him in 2027.

The Jags are an 8.5-point favorite for the game, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Barring a full collapse, they should be able to trounce Cleveland. If that wasn't enough, LeQuint Allen Jr. was their only player who earned a questionable designation for the bout.

This begs the question, how does Jacksonville stack up against the Browns? Here's a summary and their list of inactives before the game.

Jaguars injuries vs. the Browns for Week 1

LeQuint Allen Jr. got the questionable designation for the game because he's dealing with a hip injury he suffered in the preseason. He'll be a game-time decision. The same is true for Cole Van Lanen.

Although Van Lanen has no status for the game, head coach Liam Coen stated that he would be a game-time decision. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers also appeared on the Injury Report, but he'll suit up against the Browns.

If Van Lanen isn't good to go, Walker Little, who was the starting left tackle in Week 1 of 2025, will get the nod at right tackle. On the other hand, veteran Ameer Abdullah will fill in for Allen if he's unavailable. Like Allen, Abdullah is a superb pass blocker and can catch the football out of the backfield.

On a related note, the Jaguars promoted quarterback Nick Mullens from the practice squad via standard elevation one day before the opener, meaning that there's a strong chance he'll be QB2 and Quinn Ewers will be inactive.

Jacksonville traded for Ewers before the cutdown deadline to bolster the depth behind Trevor Lawrence. Not long after acquiring Ewers, the Jags released Nick Mullens to pave the way for him. However, they re-signed him to the practice squad just a few days later.

Since Ewers hasn't caught up to speed, it makes sense for Mullens to serve as QB2.

On the Browns sideline, right guard Teven Jenkins won't suit up for the game, so rookie Austin Barber will start at right guard. 2026 first-round pick Spencer Fano will also start at left tackle, making it the first time since 1990 that Cleveland will roll out with a completely new offensive line, compared to Week 1 of the prior year.

The fact that the Browns will have two rookies on the offensive line will give the Jacksonville pass rush a favorable chance to bring the heat and stymie the run in Week 1.
