The Jacksonville Jaguars have had some pretty cool uniform combinations throughout their history, but there's no doubt that the Prowlers are the best of the bunch. Their fans most certainly look forward to seeing them rock the throwbacks any time they can. For that reason, they should be hyped about executive vice president of football operations Tony Boselli's latest remarks.
Boselli made an apperance on 1010 XL and said that the Jags will wear the Prowlers as often as they can, pointing out that they're limited to a certain number of games per season.
"Well, I'm with the fans. You know where I lie," Boselli responded when asked whether the Jaguars could bring back the Prowlers on a permanent basis. "I would wear those things every game if we're allowed. I think this year we're allowed to wear them up to four. We will maximize anytime we can wear the power of the old school jerseys, they will be on. There are league rules of how often you can change the jerseys. I will abide by those rules."
Boselli continued, "We can't change them immediately to be a full-time jersey. Stay tuned. We'll communicate that as we have the opportunity to at our next Jersey change. But for this year, expect us to maximize. I believe it's four times that we can wear the Prowlers, and we're going to maximize and wear those Prowlers as much as we can."
As Boselli noted, the Jaguars cannot just wave a magic wand and start wearing their old-school jersey. However, it's refreshing to hear that they're making an effort to wear them as much as possible. Last season, they wore them in Week 5, when Tom Coughlin was inducted into the Pride of the Jaguars, and Week 17 against the New York Jets.
Based on Boselli's comments, Jacksonville could wear the Prowlers four times next season. Below is his full appearance on 1010 XL.
The Jaguars have made an effort to wear the Prowlers in recent years
All things considered, Boselli's comments are reassuring, as he's opening the door to a potential return to the Prowlers full-time. It also shows that he's listening to what fans have to say.
There may be some fans who prefer the current uniforms, but the Prowlers are the most popular. After several years of not wearing them, the Jaguars brought them back last year. They teased their potential return early in 2024 and officially announced it last July.
While it may be a while before the Jaguars can make a full return to the Prowler, it's encouraging to hear that they're making an effort to wear them as much as possible.
