The Jacksonville Jaguars will have a golden opportunity to show they're the team to beat in the AFC South when they play the Houston Texans in Week 6. Sure, they are 4-1, while their dreaded division foe is coming off its first win of the season.

However, a win would allow the Texans to work their way back into the AFC South race. The Jags must prevent it from happening. Working in their favor is that they're going to get reinforcements at safety.

The Jaguars get Eric Murray back, rule out Montaric Brown vs. the Texans

The Jaguars dropped their final injury report for Week 6. They've ruled out cornerback Montaric Brown (hamstring) and long snapper Ross Matiscik (shoulder). They also listed cornerback Jaylon Jones as questionable. If he doesn't suit up against Houston, it will be the second game he misses in a row.

On the other hand, tight end Nate Boerkircher (back), cornerbacks Jarrian Jones (elbow) and Jourdan Lewis (hamstring), right tackle Cole Van Lanen (knee), and offensive guard Emmanuel Pregnon (offensive guard) will be good to go despite the fact that they were limited participants in practice in the days preceding the game. On top of that, Jacksonville is getting Eric Murray back after clearing concussion protocol.

The veteran safety suffered a concussion in Week 4 and remained in protocol in Week 5. Head coach Liam Coen stated in his media availability session that Murray was trending in the right direction (2:25 mark).

On the other hand, Coen didn't sound overly optimistic about Matiscik's odds of playing.

"I don't think Ross will probably get a ton today, so we're just gonna look at it. Ross doesn't need a ton of work to be able to go. We'll be able to kind of get closer to game time to be able to decide then."

Mastiscik's status for Week 6 isn't particularly surprising, though. He sustained a shoulder injury against the Philadelphia Eagles, and Davon Hamilton filled in for him. A couple days after the win, the team signed Jacob Bobenmoyer to the practice squad. He'll handle long snapping duty in the second London game.

Circling back to Murray, he'll return to the starting lineup next to Antonio Johnson. Rayuane Lane III and Kaevon Merriweather will probably serve as the primary backups at safety, meaning that rookie Jalen Huskey will probably be inactive for the game.

The Texans, for their part, have ruled out safety Jalen Pitre, running back David Montgomery, and wide receiver Tank Dell. They also listed linebacker Henry To'oto'o and cornerback Ja'Marcus Ingram.

How will the Jaguars replace Montaric Brown

Montaric Brown missed Week 4 with a hamstring injury. He was back with the team in the win over the Eagles but only logged six snaps. Not having Brown definitely stings, but the Jaguars have more than enough depth to overcome his absence.

Although Jaylon Jones could also miss the game, Jarrian Jones and Jourdan Lewis are good to go despite the fact that they're dealing with elbow and hamstring injuries, respectively. Travis Hunter and Alijah Huzzie are also in the mix, so Jacksonville will have enough depth at cornerback in Week 6.

In the end, the Jaguars have more than enough talent to fend off the Texans in Week 6. They have no excuse to not win their fifth game of the year.
