The downside of having so much success in 2025 was that the Jacksonville Jaguars came close to losing their offensive and defensive coordinators less than a year after hiring them. Both Anthony Campanile and Grant Udinski earned legitimate interest for head-coaching openings but ultimately chose to stay put. However, the Jags could lose them in 2027 if they continue to win.
Jacksonville will face the Denver Broncos in Week 2. If Campanile and Udinski put up a good show, their stock will only continue to soar.
Why the Jaguars could lose Anthony Campanile and Grant Udinski to HC jobs
Grant Udinski was the assistant offensive coordinator/assistant quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings before becoming the offensive coordinator for the Jaguars in 2025. He played a huge role in Sam Darnold's career revival and was a hot commodity for offensive coordinator jobs. Liam Coen was ultimately able to lure him, and the decision paid off dividends right off the bat.
With Udinski at the helm, Jacksonville had one of the best offenses in the NFL last year. Both the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills showed interest in him to fill their respective head-coaching vacancies but chose to return to Duval. Pretty much the same happened to Anthony Campanile.
A linebackers coach for the Miami Dolphins, Campanile had the same position with the Green Bay Packers in 2024 but also had run defense coordinator added to his responsibilities. The Jags identified him as their guy to run their defense, and they also got it right.
Although he had no prior experience as a defensive coordinator, Campanile had success right off the bat, managing to get the most out of an underachieving unit. With him leading the way, the Jacksonville defense has picked up where it left off in 2025, creating two takeaways and registering five sacks against the Browns in Week 1.
Like Udinski, coach Camp also interviewed for head-coaching jobs. He met with the Arizona Cardinals to fill their vacancy but stayed with the Jags. However, it may be a matter of time before both of them leave.

The Broncos give Anthony Campanile and Grant Udinski a perfect test
Heading into the Week 2 game, the spotlight will be on head coaches Sean Payton and Liam Coen. Similarly, it will be touted as a Trevor Lawrence vs. Bo Nix matchup, but teams planning to make a switch at head coach in 2027 will be paying attention closely. That means that Anthony Campanile and Grant Udinksi will have a prime opportunity to boost their stock in a contest Jacksonville should win.
The Broncos are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but they're too talented not to bounce back. Moreover, they have a penchant for starting slow but getting back on track as the season progresses under head coach Sean Payton. Simply put, the Jaguars cannot afford to take them lightly. Then again, they match up favorably, so they have a legitimate chance to leave Empower Field with their second win of the season.
With Lawrence at the helm, Jacksonville should have no trouble putting points on the scoreboard despite the fact that the Broncos have a stout defense. On defense, the Jags have enough talent to stymie running back J.K. Dobbins and force quarterback Nix to make mistakes.
The Jaguars are well aware that they'll lose Anthony Campanile and Grant Udinski at some point, but they'll cross that bridge in due time. For the time being, they need to focus on the task at hand: Beating the Broncos.
