Jaguars may want to ease (or even rest) Bhayshul Tuten vs. Ravens on TNF

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton and safety Eric Murray for the season in the Week 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts. There's a chance they'll also be without running back Bhayshul Tuten against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football.

Tuten had an impressive showing against Indy, toting the rock 16 times for 104 yards with one touchdown. He also reeled in two receptions for 55 yards with a touchdown. What makes his success even more surprising is that the sophomore running back got hurt at some point of the game but still delivered.

Having said that, Tuten has yet to practice ahead of the Ravens game. While there's a chance he may just be getting as much rest as possible, the team may ultimately be better off easing his workload or having him sit the Thursday Night contest altogether.

Bhayshul Tuten hasn't practice for the Jaguars vs. Ravens

The Jaguars released their injury report for Thursday Night. Bhayshul Tuten was listed as a non-participant Tuesday with ankle and foot injuries. He didn't practice in Monday's walkthrough either. Whether he practices Wednesday will give us an indication of whether the Paulsboro, New Jersey native will suit up against Baltimore.

As Fantasy Points injury analyst Jeff Muller noted on Twitter, it seemed like Tuten hurt his ankle in the first quarter. That he managed to finish the way is a feat in itself that deserves recognition.

A fourth-round pick in 2025, Tuten became RB1 for Jacksonville when Travis Etienne bolted for the New Orleans Saints in free agency. Although there were concerns because of his 3.7-yard average per carry last year, he's proven to be a more than capable replacement, toting the rock 110 times for 492 yards with three touchdowns in seven games this season.

If Tuten isn't good to go Thursday, Chris Rodriguez and Ameer Abdullah will get an uptick in playing time against the Ravens' 20th-ranked run defense.

Why the Jaguars are better off limiting (or holding out)

The Jaguars will play Baltimore in a short week, meaning that they are still recovering from the win over the Colts. Bhayshul Tuten has simply not had enough time to recover. The same is true for virtually every other player on both teams, but he's in a unique situation.

Jacksonville is an 8.5-point favorite for Thursday Night because the Ravens are down to third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano, even though he's hurt himself. And precisely because it will be a favorable matchup for the Jags, they could afford to sit out Tuten. This is especially true when you take into account that fellow running back Chris Rodriguez has thrived in limited opportunities.

And with Ameer Abdullah and LeQuint Allen Jr. also in the mix, Jacksonville could afford to rest Tuten to ensure he has a 10-day break to recover. Of course, he's a competitor. He'll want to play. However, this is a long season, and the Jags are better off bringing him and anyone else they can back slowly.

Sure, it would be great to see Tuten have another 100-yard game, but the last thing the Jaguars want is to see him aggravate his injury.
