The Jacksonville Jaguars look to be a really good team this year, and it doesn't feel like nearly enough people are talking about it. People also aren't talking about quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the season he's put together under first-year head coach Liam Coen.
Someone who is not only talking about it but shouting it from the rooftops, however, is former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel. While appearing on The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday, Daniel couldn't stop praising what Coen and Lawrence have been able to accomplish together in just 14 games together.
"What Liam Coen is doing with Trevor Lawrence... I mean, this was, without a doubt, the best game Trevor Lawrence has ever played, maybe at any level," Daniel said on The Dan Patrick Show. "It's not only because the six touchdowns, right? That's nice. And you look at the stats and you're like, oh, that's awesome."
Daniel continued, "But you look at the play calling... It's been impressive to watch because in my opinion, the jury was a little bit out on Trevor Lawrence. 'Hey, how's he going to react? How's he going to be with this third head coach or fourth?' Well, however many it is. And then you see what Liam Coen's been able to do. And he's been able to highlight the strong parts of Trevor Lawrence's game. And that's throwing the football down the field. And so it's just been really impressive."

Jaguars might be onto something special with Trevor Lawrence and Liam Coen
This is extremely high praise from Daniel, who played in the league for 14 seasons, albeit mostly as a backup. Still, he's become a reliable analyst who breaks down film well and knows his stuff when it comes to quarterback play, so for him to say that Lawrence might have just played his best game ever, it means something for sure.
Lawrence did have an awesome game against the Jets, and while, yes, it was against the Jets, isn't that what a quarterback is supposed to do against a bad team? The former number one overall pick threw for five touchdowns while rushing for another score and looked like the Clemson sensation the Jaguars expected to get when they spent the first pick on him in 2021.
The fact that Coen stepped in and immediately helped turn Lawrence into that type of player shows that the Jags 100 percent made the right decision in hiring him. The hope now is that Lawrence can continue to play this well past Year 1, as Doug Pederson seemingly turned things around for Lawrence, but then that all went downhill in Pederson's second and third years.
It'll get more challenging for Lawrence this week, though, as a date with the AFC-leading Broncos is up next. If Lawrence continues to ball out in the way Daniel says he's doing this year, then maybe -- just maybe -- this could end up being Jacksonville's year.
