Cam Robinson wasting no time making his Jaguars feelings clear with savage late hit
The Jacksonville Jaguars made waves when they traded left tackle Cam Robinson to the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the November 5 deadline. Fast forward to Week 10, and the Jags got to face the former Alabama product. All things considered, he was having a solid game but once he got the chance, he wasted no time showing his former team how he felt.
Safety Darnell Savage picked off Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold early in the third quarter. During the play, Robinson made a devastating block that earned him an illegal blindside block penalty.
Although the Jaguars ultimately couldn't take advantage of the turnover, they're leading 7-3 as of this writing. So far, they've been able to hold off the Vikings, which is surprising when you take into account that Mac Jones is filling for Trevor Lawrence at quarterback.
Lawrence suffered a shoulder sprain and was limited in practice ahead of the Vikings game. He was listed as questionable in the final Week 10 injury report and was ultimately inactive for the bout.
On the first six offensive possessions of the game, Jones is 8-of-13 for 73 yards, so it's fair to say that he isn't particularly great. In fact, the Jaguars are up only because the defense has come through registering three interceptions for the day.
Surprisingly, Sam Darnold is having a bad day. The 2018 first-round pick is enjoying a career revival under Kevin O'Donnell's tutelage but he's struggled against a Jacksonville defense that had a hard time stopping opponents and generating turnovers this season.
Robinson, for his part, has been a mixed bag during his short stint with the Vikings. Although he didn't allow a sack in his first two games with his new team, he's given up a concerning eight pressures. Add the penalty flag he drew in Week 10, and the decision to send him to Minnesota looks good.
The Jaguars are doing fine without Cam Robinson thanks to Walker Little
While he's been far from perfect since Cam Robinson was traded, Walker Little has held his own the past four games, giving up a manageable six total pressures. His first extended action came in Week 7 when he was thrust into action after his former teammate suffered a concussion. He hasn't looked back ever since.
Since being drafted in 2017, Robinson was a mainstay of the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line. However, he was inconsistent and was slated to become a free agent next year. This is why nobody batted an eye when he was traded to the Vikings. If anything, it took the Jags too long, as the Louisiana native had been the subject of trade speculation since the end of the 2023 season.
Although the Jags were under scrutiny for getting just a conditional fifth-round pick in 2027 in exchange for Robinson, the truth is that they were better off getting a late-round selection now instead of letting him walk next year and get nothing in return.
Like Robinson, Little is slated to hit the open market in 2025, so he's currently putting enough tape to be in a position to ask for market compensation.
