The Jacksonville Jaguars are tweaking their roster ahead of their Week 2 preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. They waived defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna and brought back offensive lineman Timothy McKay for a second stint in Duval.
Re-signing Bohanna makes sense when you take into account that Jacksonville is dealing with injuries on the offensive line. Then again, he's a long shot to make the team.
On the other hand, Bohanna probably wasn't going to earn a role next season, so the Jags chose to cut ties with him to give him a chance to land another team. The team's brass will continue to make roster moves in the upcoming days and before cutdown day. This is why the following five players can't get too comfortable.
5 Jaguars players who are on the bubble and could follow Quintin Bohanna
Jimto Obidegwu, offensive lineman
After the arrival of Timothy McKay, Jimto Obidegwu could feel his seat heat up substantially. He was underwhelming in the preseason opener, giving up one pressure and drawing two penalty flags on 27 snaps.
Ogidegwu will probably get ample playing time against the Panthers, so he'd better make the most of it. Otherwise, he may get the boot even before cutdown day.
DeeJay Dallas, running back
DeeJay Dallas joined the Jags late in 2025. The team's decision-makers liked him enough that they gave him a new one-year deal in 2026. At the time, he seemed like a good bet to make the team but has been unable to stand out after the arrival of J'Mari Taylor and Ameer Abdullah.
While Taylor and Abdullah have made a strong impression, Dallas left much to be desired in the preseason opener, toting the rock 10 times for a measly 26 yards. Another poor performance, and he could be shown the door.
Tim Jones, wide receiver
Tim Jones was a revelation in 2022. That year, he made the initial 53-man roster. The former Southern Miss Golden Eagle achieved that feat the two following seasons but bolted for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025. He eventually returned to Duval during the regular season but didn't get much playing time.
Nevertheless, Jones signed a reserve/future contract in 2026 and is making a bid to make the 53-man roster. However, he's been unremarkable while other younger receivers have made plays dating back to training camp.
Jones is running out of chance to prove he deserves to stay in Jacksonville for a sixth season.
Corey Ballentine, cornerback
The Jaguars weren't in particular need of help at cornerback, but that didn't stop them from kicking the tires on Corey Ballentine. Although Ballentine has managed to stick around in the league for a while, he didn't do much of note in his preseason debut with Jacksonville.
You could even make the case that Ballentine struggled badly, giving up several long completions. In fact, the New Orleans Saints seemingly targeted him often because they knew he was the weak link in the secondary.
Maybe Ballentine can bounce back in Week 2 of the preseason. If he doesn't, Jacksonville won't hesitate to give him his walking papers.
Keivie Rose, defensive tackle
Quinton Bohanna may not be the only defensive tackle the Jaguars will waive in the upcoming days. Keivie Rose could be next. An undrafted free agent in 2025, Rose signed with the Jags last year and spent his rookie campaign on the practice squad.
Rose hasn't been able to move up on the depth chart. It didn't help that he was unremarkable in the preseason opener. Unless he turns the corner, the sophomore defensive tackle will be kicked to the curb.
