After a dominant display by the defense in the previous practice, reports emerged out of Duval that the Jacksonville Jaguars watched the offense bounce back on Day 7 of training camp.
All things considered, the Jags should be thrilled to see the offense and defense exchange blows, as that will only make them better. They'll next get to test each other in the August 7 scrimmage. But circling back to Day 7, who stood out the most? These five players come to mind.
Ventrell Miller, Jaguars linebacker
While Branson Combs is narrowing down the gap in the linebacker battle, Ventrell Miller isn't willing to give up a single inch. Based on his performance on Day 7, the competition could come down to the wire.
Miller forced the ball out of running back Ameer Abdulla's hands and later recovered it. That's the kind of impact plays Jacksonville needs at linebacker. If the former Florida Gator keeps making them, he'll manage to fend off Combs.

Chris Rodriguez, Jaguars running back
After missing the offseason program with a foot injury, the Jaguars are bringing in Chris Rodriguez slowly, progressively increasing his workload. He's quickly proving why Jacksonville brought him in to help replace Travis Etienne.
During his first practice with the team, Rodriguez trucked safety Caleb Ransaw. After getting a practice off, he once again flashed on Day 7. Josh Shipley of Sports Illustrated reported that all his carries were for positive gains, noting that he's quickly positioning himself to be the team's top option in short-yardage situations.
Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars quarterback
Building consistency will be a theme for Trevor Lawrence next season, so he'll need to stack up as many good practices as he can. After a rough outing against the defense early in the week in the previous practice, No. 16 bounced back big, going 11-of-13 on Day 7, according to Mia O'Brien of ESPN Radio.
Josh Shipley also says that Lawrence showcased his deep ball, completing passes of 20+ yards to Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr., Tim Jones, Brenton Strange, and Tim Jones. It will be huge if he can shred the secondary in the mock game, as that could be one of the last times he gets plenty of work with pads ahead of the preseason.
Antonio Johnson, Jaguars safety
After an underwhelming 2024, Antonio Johnson not only bounced back last year but showed that he's one of the best safeties in the NFL, registering a career-best five interceptions and nine passes defensed. The former Texas A&M Aggie has picked up where he left off last year, showcasing his game-changing skills in practice.
Johnson had two batted passes and also had a pick in the prior practice. He's already in regular-season mode, so expect him to create turnovers for the Jacksonville secondary once again.
Jabbar Muhammad, Jaguars cornerback
Christian Braswell will soon return to practice after missing the start of training camp. He'll have plenty of catch-up to do, as Jabbar Muhammad had been a standout, registering a pass deflection in virtually every practice. He had another one on Day 7.
At this point, Muhammad seems to have a favorable lead for the CB5 job. Maybe Braswell can keep things interesting once he's back at full strength.
