Since Liam Coen became the head coach in 2025, the Jacksonville Jaguars have steadily become a gritty team. And they'll get to show just how physical they are when they hold a scrimmage on August 7.
While the coaching staff will place an emphasis on execution and fundamentals, several players will have a golden opportunity to make an impression in the Jacksonville mock game. These five, in particular, stand to gain a lot from a strong outing.

Wyatt Milum, Jaguars offensive lineman
Right guard Patrick Mekari has missed the start of training camp. During his absence, Wyatt Milum has practiced with the first team. With a strong outing, he could end up supplanting Mekari permanently.
That said, Milum will not be handed the job. Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union states that the sophomore hog molly has struggled at times, so he'll need to play better if he truly wants to become the starting right guard.
Bhayshul Tuten, Jaguars running back
While Chris Rodriguez turned heads during his first practice with the team, it is still Bhayshul Tuten's show. The second-year running back had a strong offseason and has picked up where he left off in training camp. Although the offense had trouble moving the ball on Day 6, Tuten managed to break off a big run.
Tuten will get to showcase his home-run speed once again in the scrimmage. And if he shows out, he'll solidify his place as the No. 1 option in the Jacksonville backfield.
Anton Harrison, Jaguars right/left tackle
With Cole Van Lanen still recovering from a knee injury he suffered late in 2025, Anton Harrison has been taking the lion's share of the first-team reps at left tackle. Head coach Liam Coen hasn't ruled out the possibility of Harrison switching sides. But for that to happen, he'll need to keep making strides.
As good as the former Oklahoma Sooner has looked on the left side, he has played right tackle since the Jaguars drafted him in 2023, so he'll need to deal with the nuances of protecting Trevor Lawrence's blindside. The scrimmage will give him a prime opportunity to do just that.
Travis Hunter, Jaguars two-way player
Travis Hunter showed that he could play two ways during last year's mock game. His ability to play offense and defense is no longer in question. Instead, the Heisman Trophy winner will get to show just how far he's come in his recovery from the LCL injury he sustained last year. The Jaguars probably won't want to put too much on his plate but will also want to increase his workload a bit.
On the other hand, it wouldn't be shocking to see Hunter be on a snap count in the scrimmage. Either way, the scrimmage will reveal just how ready he is for the regular season.
Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars quarterback
Trevor Lawrence has struggled at times during training camp and the offseason. But overall, he's had more good practices than bad ones. That said, he needs to stack up more good days with the preseason just around the corner. This is why the scrimmage will be so important for him.
Lawrence probably won't play many series in the preseason, and he may not even suit up for the finale. This is why the scrimmage, along with the joint practices, will be his last opportunity to get ready for the season opener.
