The Jacksonville Jaguars are somehow flying under the radar ahead despite the fact that they went 13-4 and won the AFC South last year. Some of that stems from the losses they suffered (Travis Etienne and Ventrell Miller), and the dearth of big moves in the offseason. Then again, the Jags didn't have to be nearly as active as other teams because they expect several players to take a leap.
Throughout Organized Team Activities, several players showed notable improvements, with some of them even making a push for either a roster spot or a featured role.
On the other hand, a handful of players failed to stand out in the offseason program. The following five, in particular, will enter training camp with a less favorable chance to make the team.
Ben Patterson, Jaguars receiver
Even after drafting Josh Cameron and CJ Williams in Round 6, the Jaguars kept adding reinforcements at receiver. Specifically, they signed Ben Patterson as an undrafted free agent. In any other year, the UT Permian Basin product would have a chance to make the cut, but he's facing stiff competition.
Patterson has to compete with sophomore Chandler Brayboy and Austin Trammell just to make the practice squad. Compounding the issue is that he didn't do enough in OTAs to boost his stock.
Parker Hughes, Jaguars linebacker
Parker Hughes was one of the fastest linebackers in this year's class but somehow fell to Round 7. The Middle Tennessee Blue Raider most definitely has an intriguing skill set; the issue is that he could be the victim of the numbers game.
Even with Devin Lloyd out of the mix, the Jaguars have a well-rounded linebacker corps. With Branson Combs, Ventrell Miller, Jalen McLeod, Yasir Abdullah, Jack Kiser, Foyesase Olukoun, and Dennis Gardeck in the mix, it's simply hard to see Hughes making the roster.
Heck, at this point, he may be the only Jaguars draft pick from 2026 who may not earn a roster spot.
Dane Jackson, Jaguars cornerback
The Jaguars signed Dane Jackson after the draft to bolster their depth at cornerback. He's appeared in 64 games with 31 starts since 2020. That kind of experience could serve him well if he weren't part of a crowded cornerback room. Jarrian Jones, Jourdan Lewis, Travis Hunter, and Montaric Brown are virtually guaranteed to make the team. That would leave just one of two spots up for grabs.
Jabbar Muhammad could get one, and Christian Braswell could seize the other. With Keni-H Lovely and rookies Davon Marshall and Preston Hodge also in the mix, it's hard to see Jackson sticking around next season.
Trevian Thomas, Jaguars safety
Here's another player who will have trouble separating himself from his peers because Jacksonville is stacked at safety. Trevian Thomas landed in Duval after the Carolina Panthers released him. He didn't see playing time on game day with the Jags and now faces an uphill battle to even land in the practice squad.
Maybe if Thomas can outplay Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig in training camp, he'll have a shot but is currently on the outside looking in.
Garrett DiGiorgio, Jaguars offensive guard
The Jaguars brought in Garrett DiGiorio as an undrafted free agent. Like most players on this list, he's a long shot to even make the practice squad. Then again, the former UCLA Bruin will get a legitimate chance to compete. Simply, his odds aren't looking great right now.
DiGiorgio played both tackle and guard in college but may be better suited to play inside at the NFL level. With Wyatt Milum and rookie Emmanuel Pregnon competing for the backup spots at guard, DiGiorgio would have to truly turn heads to have a shot.
