The Jacksonville Jaguars are entering training camp with very few weaknesses. Sure, they could use reinforcements at defensive tackle and the pass rush, but they have lots of depth and talent at nearly every other position group.
Of course, the Jags won't be thrilled to see any of the starters go down anytime soon, but they can also lean on their backups and will be fine for the most part.
With this in mind, here are four Jacksonville backups who don't get nearly as much attention as they deserve.
Jarrian Jones, Jaguars cornerback
The past two years, Jarrian Jones has been inconsistent but has also shown big-play potential. In fact, he seemingly hit his stride late in 2025 and should have no trouble picking up where he left off in his second season under defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.
Jones' three interceptions in 2025 were the second most on the team. While the former Florida State Seminole can line up both inside and outside, he's better suited to play nickel. That said, don't be surprised if he gets playing time in the boundaries.
Ruke Orhorhorho, Jaguars defensive tackle
The Jaguars threw a curveball one week before the 2026 draft, sending Maason Smith to the Atlanta Falcons in return for Ruke Orhorhoro. The trade was notable because the team's brass needed help at defensive tackle and might not have been thrilled about this year's class.
Either way, Orhorhoro will start the season behind Arik Armstead and DaVon Hamilton, but nobody will bat an eye if he moves ahead of them on the depth chart at some point of the year. The former Clemson Tiger had an underwhelming stint in A-Town but flashed pass-rush potential even though he was playing out of position.
The expectation is that Orhorhoro will put it all together in Duval. If he does, he'll go from backup to a prominent defensive piece.
Rayuan Lane II, Jaguars safety
Caleb Ransaw could challenge Eric Murray for the starting job next to Antonio Johnson, but Jacksonville has depth at safety beyond those three. Rayuan Lane became a staple of the Jacksonville special teams as a rookie but also made a strong impression when injuries pressed him into the spotlight.
Lane won't be competing for a starting job anytime soon, especially after the arrival of rookie Jalen Husky. That said, he'll be ready if called upon.
LeQuint Allen Jr., Jaguars running back
The running back conversation in Jacksonville mostly centers on Chris Rodriguez and Bhayshul Tuten, but the 2025 seventh-round pick will also get his offensive snaps next season. The former Syracuse Orangeman carved out a niche as a third-down back and did enough to get either more passes out of the backfield or more carries.
Allen's numbers will never pop off the stat sheet, but the Jaguars are surely thrilled to have him around.
Wyatt Milum, Jaguars offensive lineman
Like other players on this list, Wyatt Milum could be competing for a bigger role next season. As a rookie, he made a strong impression in training camp, but a knee injury forced him to miss time and hindered his progress. The former West Virginia Mountaineer is back at full strength and ready to make a bid for a starting job.
Milum could challenge Patrick Mekari for the right guard job. If he loses, he could replace Ezra Cleveland at left guard if he leaves next year.
Either way, it may be a matter of time before he joins the starting lineup.
