No. 4 Lion the Jaguars must account for in Week 13: Penei Sewell, RT

Had the Jaguars not taken Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft, offensive tackle Penei Sewell would have surely been in play. After all, the former Oregon Duck was one of the most highly coveted prospects in last year’s class, regardless of the position.

Surprisingly, Sewell lasted until the No. 7 pick, where Detroit gladly took him. Looking back, this was the right decision, as he’s gone on to become one of the best young offensive linemen in the league. Just recently, he landed on ESPN’s list of top players under 25, and rightfully so. His 79.6 Pro Football Focus grade of 79.6 ranks ninth among offensive tackles and has kept quarterback Jared Goff mostly clean this season, giving up just two sacks.

No. 3 Lion the Jaguars must account for in Week 13: Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR

The 2021 draft was stacked with wide receiver talent so it’s not particularly surprising that Amon-Ra St. Brown made it to the fourth round. What stands out is that the former USC Trojan went on to become a difference-maker for the Lions right off the bat, hauling in 90 receptions for 912 yards with five touchdowns.

St. Brown has picked up where he left off last year and has caught 65 passes for 716 yards with four touchdowns. He may or may not reach the 1,000-yard mark but he’s one of the Lions’ best offensive weapons and the Jaguars’ defense will have to account for him on every play if they want to avoid getting burnt.
