The Jaguars play a couple of AFC South foes to end the 2022 season

Week 17 vs. Houston Texans, W

The Jaguars had an opportunity to beat the Houston Texans in Week 5 but a couple of costly mistakes by Trevor Lawrence put to waste an outstanding performance by their defense. The fact that Jacksonville was favored to win and the game was held at TIAA Bank Field makes the loss even more frustrating.

Davis Mills still hasn’t proven he’s the answer at quarterback but the Texans have a good finding in running back Dameon Pierce, who’s become an important piece of their offense. All things considered, Houston is still a couple of years away from turning the corner. They have a few building blocks on their roster but not nearly enough to consistently win games.

Week 18 vs. Tennessee Titans

Making the playoffs is a great feat but not everyone team can qualify and those that don’t will try to prevent others from doing so. The Jaguars did it last year when they beat the Colts in the season finale.

This year’s Titans are much better than the 2021 Colts but the Jaguars should have figured things out at this point of the season, which will make this a close game than talking heads expect. It will be interesting to see who’s the starting quarterback for the Titans in Week 18. Will Ryan Tannehill keep his job or will Tennessee try to find out what Malik Willis is capable of doing?

Now, winning seven games is nothing to be proud of but the Jaguars have won more than six in a season just once since 2008, so it would represent a step in the right direction. While a playoff run seems unlikely, Jacksonville will have the chance to finish strong and enter the offseason on a high note.
