Jacksonville Jaguars WR Target No. 1: Jordan Addison, USC

One of the top receivers in this year’s upcoming draft class is Jordan Addison, by way of USC. Originally a transfer from Pitt, Addison is flourishing with the Trojans. He’s not the biggest wideout, with a frame of six feet and weighing in at 175 pounds. However, he has breakaway speed that the Jaguars’ offense desperately needs.

A critique of Lawrence’s game this season is that he’s not making much happen down the field. Nate Tice of The Athletic recently pointed out that the Jaguars aren’t getting much production past throws of 20 yards or more. The thing is, if Lawrence doesn’t have receivers who can both stretch the field and make those contested throws, how much blame does he deserve?

Well, if you inserted Addison, you drafted noteworthy speed. Right now, Addison’s averaging 15 yards a catch and is a consistent scoring threat with seven touchdowns (17 the year prior). He’s currently in the top 10 for several NCAA categories, including receiving touchdowns and yards, as well as yards per reception. Also of note, Addison was the recipient of the Fred Biletnikoff Award last season.

Addison appears to be a quintessential slot receiver; he has the downfield velocity that Doug Pederson is likely begging for. His feet and movement are awe-inspiring, with the ability to change direction at a moment’s notice. He’s often deployed on deep routes, easily gaining separation, and more importantly, Addison will track deep throws. Despite not being the tallest option, he’ll use his body and hands to fight for the ball.

Yes, the knock on him is his size. However, a creative offensive play caller can use Addison’s strengths while still maximizing Christian Kirk.
