It’s easy to forget now but the Jaguars face a certain degree of uncertainty at left tackle last offseason. The team’s brass applied the franchise tag on Cam Robinson but he was coming off an unspectacular campaign and the position seemed like a pressing need ahead of the NFL Draft.

Jacksonville ended up using the 45th overall selection on Walker Little, who was projected to be a top offensive tackle prospect before he suffered an ACL injury in 2019. The former Stanford Cardinal went on to earn praise from Urban Meyer and then-offensive line coach George Warhop early in the offseason.

Nevertheless, Little spent most of the season watching from the sidelines and only got a chance whenever Robinson was unavailable. Although he struggled in his first start, he fared well in the next two.

After signing a three-year deal worth $54 million earlier this year, Robinson is firmly entrenched at left tackle, so Little will compete with incumbent Jawaan Taylor for the right tackle job. While Taylor has the edge by virtue of having played the position longer, Little might have more upside and has a realistic shot at becoming the starter.

Little will most likely experience a learning curve at first, having lined up on the left side. However, he will put his full talent on display once he feels comfortable. Last season, he allowed just two sacks (both of them in his first start) and six total pressures on 139 pass-blocking snaps.
