No. 2 AFC South free agent the Jaguars can sign – Eric Fisher, LT.

Eric Fisher was the number one overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Central Michigan product never developed into a franchise cornerstone for the Kansas City Chiefs but he’s been a pretty good starter throughout his career and that should account for something when you take into account how bad his draft class was.

After eight years in Kansas City, Fisher joined the Indianapolis Colts. He signed a one-year deal because he was coming off an Achilles injury he suffered during the 2020 AFC Championship. Looking back, betting on himself paid off as the left tackle was able to rehabilitate his stock in Indy. Although he gave up four sacks in the first four weeks of the 2021 season, he only gave up three the rest of the year. Moreover, he posted a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 68.9.

Fisher should be able to get a multi-year contract this offseason and he could become an option for the Jaguars in case they aren’t able to reach a deal with left tackle Cam Robinson. PFF projects Fisher to sign a three-year deal worth $42 million ($14 million per year).

If Fisher doesn’t re-sign with the Cots, he should have plenty of suitors in free agency. He is 31 one and barring serious injury, he should have a few good years left in him. In fact, he may be a better player than Robinson at this stage of his football career.
