No. 2 option to replace Jaguars OG Andrew Norwell – Quinton Spain.

The Cincinnati Bengals proved how much of a difference your offense can be with a true number one receiver. Sadly, that’s not the only lesson they taught the rest of the league in 2021. They also showed how important it’s to protect your quarterback.

Had Joe Burrow had decent protection in the last play of Super Bowl 56, he might have been able to complete a pass to a wide open Ja’Marr Chase but he was brought down before he could attempt a throw. Cincy will try to revamp their offensive line this offseason but they may want to hold onto offensive guard Quinton Spain, one of the few bright spots in the unit.

After going undrafted in 2015, Spain signed with the Tennesse Titans, where he spent the first four years of his career. He joined the Buffalo Bills in 2019 but was released the following year. He promptly joined the Bengals and has been a fixture of their offensive line since then. Through his seven-year career, the West Virginia has appeared in 95 games with 90 starts. He isn’t going to wow you but he will get the job done.

Retaining Andrew Norwell would be the best course of action for the Jaguars and there will be better options in free agency than Spain but it wouldn’t be cost-prohibitive to sign him. Pro Football Focus projects that he will sign a three-year deal worth $14.25 million with $6.75 million guaranteed.
