Jaguars replenish depth chart in latest 7-round mock draft
Jaguars mock draft: 6th round, 197th overall – Decobie Durant, CB.
Decobie Durant is another versatile defensive back that comes from a small school background and was originally a quarterback. Though he’ll need refining upon entering the NFL, he has plenty of upside playing both outside and in the nickel.
Defensively speaking, he’s a true ballhawk with excellent ball skills and is regularly looking to make a play. He’ll also help in defending the run; he’s not afraid to lower his shoulders and deliver a hit, though he’ll need to put on some mass to make up for his relative lack of size.
Jaguars mock draft: 7th round, 218th overall – Isaiah Thomas, DL.
Jacksonville can add to their defensive line in the seventh round by selecting Oklahoma’s Isaiah Thomas. The six-foot-four, 258-pound lineman could end up becoming a rotational pass rusher in the NFL.
His lateral speed and explosiveness off the line are noticeable and he has excellent movement skills in his arsenal, along with robust hands. The best way to describe Thomas would be “practical.” He has all the tools to flourish if put in the right situation; speed, versatility, a violent streak, and the ability to get to the quarterback.
Jaguars mock draft: 7th round, 232nd overall – Josh Blackwell, CB.
The Jaguars will continue to replenish their secondary in the seventh round with Josh Blackwell. The Duke standout amassed some impressive stats in his four-year career. Most notably, he had 20 passes defensed along with two tackles for a loss.
Another high mark for Blackwell was being seventh in the ACC with seven interceptions. He’ll be of most use outside wide with his noticeable speed and can contribute right away to the Jaguars’ special teams.
