Jaguars mock draft, second round, 33rd overall pick, David Bell, WR.

Wide receiver is one of the Jaguars’ biggest roster needs heading into the offseason. DJ Chark Jr. is set to become a free agent in 2022 and bringing back should be one of the team’s top priorities. However, that should be just the start. They should then invest an early draft pick in the position and David Bell would be a solid addition in the second round.

The Purdue product has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the country over the last three years. In 29 games, he’s hauled in 232 receptions for 2946 yards with 21 touchdowns. Bell doesn’t have elite speed but he’s physical as they come.

Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Networks sees Bell as a “perimeter wide receiver with effective releases off the line of scrimmage and savvy work at the top of the route”. Moreover, he praises his body control and ball skills. Basically, he’s the kind of wide receiver that can come down with contested catches.

Bell didn’t play in the Music City Bowl game because he already declared for the 2022 draft. Either way, he’s already put in enough tape for scouts to evaluate. While he could be a late first-round selection, there’s a good chance he will be available when the Jaguars are on the clock in the second round. If he is still on the board, Jacksonville needs to strongly consider turning in the draft card with his name on it.
