Jacksonville Jaguars – Potential cut candidate No. 3: OT Ty Sambrailo

The Jaguars’ offensive line allowed 44 sacks last season. However, the team’s brass made the decision to bring back all the starters from 2020. Even though they had the chance to upgrade the unit in free agency and this year’s draft, they refrained from making major additions. In fact, the Jags’ most meaningful acquisition was left tackle Walker Little in Round 2 of the selection meeting.

The team believes that another season together will help the offensive line develop better rapport and more consistency. This isn’t necessarily a bad idea but for that to happen, the Jaguars will need more from left tackle Cam Robinson and right tackle Jawaan Taylor. If either one struggles, the coaching staff could give Little a look and see what he has to offer. Another alternative is bringing in a veteran. Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo fits the bill.

The 2015 second-round pick is versatile enough to play both tackle spots, so he could step in Robinson’s or Taylor’s place if either one missed time with injuries. Titans reporter Turron Davenport says that rookie Dillon Radunz will compete with Sambrailo for the starting right tackle job. He added that the 2021 second-round pick has left a good impression on the team this offseason, playing every position but center.

Davenport mentions that moving on from Sambrailo would only cost Tennesse a manageable $750,000 in dead money. This could make it easy for them to release the veteran before the regular season. If that is the outcome, the Jaguars shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to him.
