The Jacksonville Jaguars need to make a decision on DJ Chark.

Wide receiver DJ Chark is set to become a free agent in 2022 and it will be interesting to see what kind of approach the Jaguars take. They could go ahead and give him a multi-year extension. They may even be able to get a discount, as he’s coming off a relatively down year. The Jags wouldn’t offer him peanuts but they wouldn’t give a premium deal either. They could also let him walk in free agency and make him an offer based on his market value. As a last resort, they could slap the LSU product with the franchise tag.

There are different paths the Jags can take but Chark is in a position to cash next offseason. Even though Jacksonville lacked stability at quarterback, the wide receiver still managed to haul in 53 receptions for 706 yards and five touchdowns. Many players would’ve had a hard time thriving with the Jags in 2020 but the former Tiger still managed to put up respectable numbers.

Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer suggested Chark add weight this offseason and that’s what he did. With a new coaching staff in place, he could have a breakout campaign in 2021. He already made the Pro Bowl in 2019 and he could make his second one and even earn an All-Pro designation this upcoming season. Chark is the most successful productive player that came out of the Jags’ 2018 draft class and he deserves to be paid. How will it happen? It remains to be seen.
