36. . . . Damien Lewis, offensive guard. 4. player

These two could’ve immediately stepped up for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This may be the least sexy of all the players the Jaguars could have drafted instead of Laviska Shenalut, but Damien Lewis has been one of the best if not the best guards that in 2020’s draft class. The Seattle Seahawks picked the former Tigers offensive linemen with the 69th overall pick and got an impact starter.

Lewis has started every game in 2020 and has excelled in both the running and passing game. It’s true that selecting the LSU standout in the second round was possibly a bit too early, but looking at the results, it may have been worth it.

. . . Jaylon Johnson, cornerback. 3. player. 57

It’s too early to say if drafting cornerback C.J. Henderson with the ninth overall pick was the right decision. Nevertheless, the early returns haven’t been encouraging. The Florida standout may turn out to be just fine down the road but he has struggled in recent weeks.

Whether Henderson was the right choice, a team can’t have enough cornerbacks, and Jaylon Johnson might’ve been the best available one when the Jaguars were on the clock with the 42nd selection. The Utah standout has allowed a 48.1 completion percentage, way better than Henderson’s 64.4. Moreover, Johnson is leading the rookies with 12 pass deflections.
